What is electronics?

"What is electronics?"
Hmm.....well let's see.
The word electronics is derived by combining two words ‘electron’ and ‘mechanics’.
The IRE (institution of radio engineers) has given a standard definition of electronics as “The field of science and engineering, which deals with electron devices and their utilization”.
In simple language ‘electronics’ is a field of science. The field deals with the flow of electrons and other characteristics of electrons.
Electronics can be used in applications using an electric circuit consists of various electronic components like ICs, resistors, capacitors, wires etc.
The application of electronics can be for amplification of a signal, automation of certain actions, completing some specific tasks etc.
Also, it can be used in information exchange, data processing, defence applications etc.
Compared to other branches of science and engineering like civil, mechanics, chemical, electrical, biology etc.
Electronics is a relatively new branch but due to major advancement over recent decades has given a rightful place.
Now electronics is one of the important branches of science.

Printed Circuit Board (PCB)

A PCB is a basic building block of an electronic circuit. It provides mechanical structure and rigidity to the circuit and it also connects electronic components electrically using electrical traces or paths. The traces or paths are created by etching the PCB. A handmade PCB uses ZERO board which has various holes pre drilled. In single layer PCBs components can be mounted on one side only. In double layer PCBs components can be mounted on both sides. In multilayer PCBs components are mounted on both sides and has multiple layers on traces and tracks. Simple and small circuits containing few components can be constructed on Single layer PCBs. Complex and large circuits with many components can be constructed on double layer PCBs and on Multilayer PCBs.
